Test kilns.

Having a small test kiln is great for quick glaze test. But the fast heating and cooling can change the character of the glaze, so it comes out different than it would in a larger kiln. So, to slow down the process, try loading the kiln with hardbrick. The glaze results should be more like they would be in a larger kiln.
