When making coil pots or sculptural forms that need really smooth surfaces, use surform wood shaving tools on the leatherhard clay (so much fun). Then, use drywall sandpaper on the bone dry clay (wear a mask or sit outside up wind). It is amazing how much you can shape and form your work with these 2 amazing tools. Drywall sandpaper works so quickly and lasts a long time. I use these tools with terra sig forms. Be sure to clean off the dust very well before getting near terra sig, though. Otherwise, the dust will ruin the terra sig and will make it hard to bond with the bone dry clay…
