Hard settling glaze tip –Liz Vigoda

Liz Vigoda

If you have glazes that settle hard or drape when you pull the pot out of the bucket when dipping. Make a solution of a couple of tablespoons of calcium chloride ( the non-salt ice melt pellets) to about a cup of water, let dissolve, and you will have a syrup. Add it to your glaze bucket a few drops at a time and stir until the glaze looks is a bit thickened. Be careful not to add too much or you will have pudding that you can’t thin out again. It makes the glazes dip smoothly and keeps them from hard panning on the bottom of your buckets…beautiful!!

Hi. What do you do with the hard pan material? Put it in a blender? And can you recommend any good reading on this?
